Click Here to Download Software Version 2 Version, 2.1.0.18, was released Apr 26, 2010

This version is compatible with a CBAII or CBAIII only (the product label must read CBAII or CBAIII).

This version supports on-line purchase upgrades to Pro or Multi CBA licenses.

To check your current installed software version go to " Help", "About CBA".

NOTE: If you have the original CBA you must continue to use the older version 1.0.8.1 software that was supplied with it (available below)

Important Hardware Driver Notes

A driver installation is separate from the above program installation. Do not attempt to update or re-install a driver if it is already installed!

There are two CBA hardware driver packages. BOTH are totally compatible with the latest software!

The CBA and CBAII hardware drivers are compatible with Windows 98SE through Vista 32 bit.

The CBAIII hardware drivers will not work with a CBA or CBAII!

The CBAIII is compatible with Windows 98SE through Windows 7 64 bit.

The CBAIII drivers are Microsoft certified through Vista 64 and will automatically install but with Windows 7 a special procedure is required.

Download the Hardware drivers for the CBA, and CBAII ONLY

NOTE: You only need to download and install these drivers if you have NOT been using a CBA or CBAII on the computer you would like to use it on. The driver files are also on the CD that came with the CBA.

After downloading and running and saving these driver files they should be in a folder on your C: drive named "CBA drivers".

When you plug in your CBA or CBAII for the first time you will see the Windows Hardware Wizard say "Found new hardware". You MUST "tell" the wizard that you "have a disc". Then have the wizard browse to the C:\CBA drivers folder.

DO NOT LET WINDOWS SEARCH FOR THE BEST DRIVER!!!!!!

Download the Hardware drivers for the CBAIII ONLY

This is download is only needed if you have lost the CD that came with your CBA and are trying to install on Windows 7.

For earlier versions of Windows do an automatic install directly from Microsoft's driver update server.

Download the older Version 1.0.8.1 Software for the West Mountain Radio CBA or CBAII

Click Here to Download Software Version 1.0.8.1

It is not necessary to use the old Version 1 software if you have a CBAII, you may use the version 2.1 above.

If nothing happens when you try to install the older version 1.0.8 from our CD or our support download you may have an issue with your Windows MSI (Microsoft Installer System) support which makes it impossible to install any program, like ours, that has an install package written with the Microsoft installer.
Go to this Microsoft Support page and follow the instructions to resolve this problem.

The older CBA or CBA II will not work with Vista 64 bit or Windows® 7

If you have purchased a new computer with a Vista 64 bit or Windows 7, operating system and you have a CBA or CBAII you will not be able to use it. If you have Vista 32 bit you may use it.

When purchased the CBA and CBAII specified computer system requirements did not include these Windows versions as they did not not exist when developed. The new CBAIII is compatible and if you really must use your new computer for testing batteries you will have to purchase a new CBA.

The cost for us to upgrade an old CBA is much more than a good used computer. A typical used Windows 98 SE or XP computer that will work well with an older CBA runs $20 to $40.

The CBA works but I have problems with the LEDs or fan or other strange behavior.

A possible cause is the CBA is plugged in to an external USB hub (instead of directly to USB port built in to the computer).

CBA and CBAII users have reported that they did not follow the Windows Plug&Play driver installation prompts carefully and allowed Windows to "choose" the incorrect driver for the CBA instead of "telling" Windows to use the correct driver from us on the CBA CD ROM or this support page.

Go to "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "System", "Hardware", "Device Manager" and scroll down that list until you find the CBA driver installed under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" .

Look at this screen shot of a correctly installed CBAII: Driver check screens

You MUST see at least the two files Cygf32x.sys and CygLib.sys listed as driver files. If these two files are not there, your CBA or CBAII will not work! A CBAIII installation is completely different.

To fix this you must remove the incorrect driver files and re-install the correct files directly from the CBA CD ROM. Note: the driver files may also be found at C:/Program Files/West Mountain Radio/CBA/Drivers/ . We are sorry but we cannot exactly describe procedure to fix an incorrect installation as the procedure is different with different versions of Windows.

Once you have successfully corrected an incorrect installation you will see the correct driver files listed.

Do not use Windows hibernate or sleep modes.

It appears that certain computers and versions of Windows that USB ports are disabled, ignored or some how made inoperative when various power saving features automatically activate.

Even thought we recommend against running unattended battery tests, at least one person walked away while his computer went to sleep and over-discharged a battery.

The only sleep mode we would recommend is turning off your monitor. Suspending hard drives, hibernating and other power saving schemes are not compatible with sustaining the necessary USB communication to run a battery test.

Right click anywhere on your desktop, click Properties, Screen Saver and then Power. Check to make sure that the time for these features to activate is either much longer than your proposed battery tests or disable all power saving features.

Some computers may have a way to leave the USB port on and therefore inhibit sleep modes with USB communication active.
