Sealed Lead Acid AGM and
Gelled Electrolyte Batteries

West Mountain Radio now carries sealed lead acid batteries in both gelled electrolyte and AGM (absorbed glass mat) types. These are designed to be safe for indoor use without special protection or ventilation. Using a standard flooded electrolyte automotive or marine battery is very unsafe, sealed gell or AGM types are the only good alternatives.

We carry one standard size, a group 24 but in both gell and AGM types. This size has the capacity to run the average station for a good period of time. They fit properly in our DCtoGO RIGrunner battery box.

The batteries that we carry are distributed by MK Battery, a division of East Penn, a large high tech US battery manufacturer.

AGM batteries are a less expensive alternative to a gell type and offer similar advantages. AGMs will take deeper and more discharge/charge cycles than a typical marine deep cycle and at the same time it will be safer. The gelled electrolyte battery that East Penn makes will take many more discharge/charge cycles than their AGM batteries and more than other brands of gelled type.

We sell these batteries only in the 48 states and with free shipping direct from the manufacture's closest warehouse by FedEx ground. A battery order along with other West Mountain Radio products will be delivered in at least two deliveries, the battery by FedEx ground and the balance of the order by whatever method you choose.
